Y-PEER Nepal in Global Advisory Board (GAB) Meeting

Shubha Kayastha, Y-PEER Nepal national coordinator/ national focal point in-charge ,  represented Nepal in the GAB. After formal launch of the national network of Y-PEER in Nepal in December 2010, this was the first time Y-PEER Nepal participated in GAB ever.

Global Advisory Board (GAB) Meeting is an annual meeting of Y-PEER in which national focal point in-charge from all the national networks of Y-PEER gather together. In addition, Y-PEER GAB Meeting 2011 will create a space for sharing information on “good” practices and reporting and planning among Y-PEER members, build knowledge within the framework of Y-PEER transition and strengthen their capacity and skills. Y-PEER GAB meeting 2011 was organized in the Philippines with the national network Philippines and the UNFPA CO from 3rd October- 8th October 2011. The rationale behind selecting the Philippines in Y-PEER Global Advisory Board (GAB) is to formally introduce the international network in the region, giving a face to the international network among the newly joined countries as well as to the potential international partners in Asia Pacific region.
Y-PEER Global consists of 7 International Coordinators(IC) and in the GAB Meeting, election is held to elect 3 new IC’s every year. Shubha Kayastha had given nomination for the post of IC from the Asia- Pacific region and was successfully elected as one of the new IC from the GAB Meeting. She will hold the position of International Coordinator in Advocacy for a time period of 2 years.
