Participation in Advanced TOT @ Bangkok


The 2nd Asia-Pacific Y-PEER Advanced Training of Trainers was held at Bangkok, Thailand from 15th – 21st August. The ToT was attended by 29 participants from 10 countries and facilitated by 5 trainers and co-trainers from the region. Sagar Budhathoki and Sangeet Gopal Kayastha represented Nepal in the training as participants and Shubha Kayastha as one of the Co-Trainer. The major objective of the workshop was to build capacity of selected group of trainers to delivery high quality peer education programs. After the training, the participants got the status of Focal Points which allows them to conduct National ToT in their country.

Y-PEER Nepal celebrated International Youth Day 2012

Y-PEER Nepal celebrated International Youth Day in collaboration with Association of Youth Organization of Nepal (AYON). AYON had organized an event “Youth Café” in association with various youth organizations. The concept of youth café was to allocate tables to different organizations where there would be discussions on various issues that is important among youths and which needs to be addressed by the youth themselves. Y-PEER Nepal had taken responsibility of one of the table with the theme “Youth and Sexual and Reproductive Health”(SRH). Shubha Kayastha, Y-PEER Nepal FPC took role of facilitator for the program. The table was full of youths working on various issues with most of them having some sort of knowledge on SRH issues. The discussion was done starting from the basic components of SRH and it was followed by experience sharing by youths who have been working for SRH especially for youths. There were 2-3 case studies that were discussed which clearly identified the problems faced by the youths. The important discussion was on the sexual orientation session where the confusion among youths about the sexual minorities was made clear. There were confusion among participants regarding the sexual status of sexual minorities such as gay, lesbian etc. The 2nd half of the day was followed by new discussion among new participants as the table was rotated as per the idea of the event. The new group was  also given information on SRH and the role of youth to uplift the SRH Rights of the youths. The program was followed by refreshment and informal discussion among the youths.
