Y-PEER Nepal is planning to conduct Valentine Day Safer Sex Campaign through online forum to promote responsible sexual behavior among young people. Online posters and notebook will be designed keeping in mind the youthful essence and of love and sexuality. The posters will be posted in various online platform like facebook and blogs and it will also be sent through email to all the member organizations, partners, youth organizations, youth networks etc. This campaign is supposed to give a very strong message and creating awareness regarding safer sexual behavior among young people.
Y-PEER Nepal request all the young people to send us messages on youth, love and sexuality. The messages can be emailed to ypeer.nepal@gmail.com.

SRH Glossary
“SRH Shabdakosh-A Sexual and Reproductive Health Glossary in English and Nepali” is a compilation of works related to sexual and reproductive health issues published by Shtrii Shakti under the auspices of UNPFA Nepal. The book has been published to ensure a common understanding and use of the vocabulary on SRH issues among stakeholders. Y-PEER Nepal was involved as one of the collaborating organization providing useful comments and suggestions in the course of compiling the list of words.

World AIDS Day 2011 Celebration
WAD 2011 was extensively celebrated by Y-PEER Nepal throughout the country with the theme, “Getting to Zero”. It was celebrated in every development region of Nepal including the capital city. In Kathmandu, a stall was kept at Bhaktapur Durbar Square with different IEC materials kept in it. Earlier in the morning a rally went through the local community. Y-PEER Nepal in collaboration with other local organizations had organized the program. A short video on HIV & AIDS awareness made by Y-PEER Nepal was also screened at UWTC, Tripureshowr and also at Times Square Mall, Durbarmarg. The regional network of Y-PEER Nepal successfully organized various programs all over Nepal to celebrate the WAD 2011. Different street dramas were organized in Pokhara, Kailali, Nepalgunj which was hugely participated by huge number of young people. A rally along with Talk program and video screening was held at Illam municipality. A similar talk program and workshop on the role of youth in minimizing HIV & AIDS was also held at Pokhara. Altogether, WAD 2011 was successfully celebrated by all the regional network of Y-PEER Nepal including the capital city, Kathmandu.

Y-PEER Nepal Annual Planning Meeting (15-16 November)
Y-PEER Nepal Annual Planning Meeting was held at Budol Training Center Banepa from 15-16 November 2011. The main objective of this meeting was to gather all the regional coordinators and core team members to do the reflection of the program and activities held in the 2011 and to do strategic planning for the year 2012.The first day of the planning meeting was focused on activities such as expectation collection, team building and visionary exercises. There were special sessions on topic such as network and its importance and organizational structure. The discussion on the importance of network was very important as Y-PEER is itself a network and it very important to discuss on its sustainability. The session on organizational structure made clear about the present structure of Y-PEER Nepal and planning was done to improve the structure. It was followed by discussions on the challenges faced by the focal points and regional coordinators. The 2nd day of the meeting was focused on strategic planning for the year 2012. The information was given regarding the Y-PEER International Plan 2012 and discussion were hled for the National Action Plan 2012. There were special sessions regarding the reporting format, media and communication and celebration of Advocacy days by Y-PEER.

Y-PEER Nepal celebrated International Youth Day 2012
Y-PEER Nepal celebrated International Youth Day in collaboration with Association of Youth Organization of Nepal (AYON). AYON had organized an event “Youth Café” in association with various youth organizations. The concept of youth café was to allocate tables to different organizations where there would be discussions on various issues that is important among youths and which needs to be addressed by the youth themselves. Y-PEER Nepal had taken responsibility of one of the table with the theme “Youth and Sexual and Reproductive Health”(SRH). Shubha Kayastha, Y-PEER Nepal FPC took role of facilitator for the program. The table was full of youths working on various issues with most of them having some sort of knowledge on SRH issues. The discussion was done starting from the basic components of SRH and it was followed by experience sharing by youths who have been working for SRH especially for youths. There were 2-3 case studies that were discussed which clearly identified the problems faced by the youths. The important discussion was on the sexual orientation session where the confusion among youths about the sexual minorities was made clear. There were confusion among participants regarding the sexual status of sexual minorities such as gay, lesbian etc. The 2nd half of the day was followed by new discussion among new participants as the table was rotated as per the idea of the event. The new group was also given information on SRH and the role of youth to uplift the SRH Rights of the youths. The program was followed by refreshment and informal discussion among the youths.

National Network of Y-PEER in Nepal Launches
National Network of Y-PEER in Nepal Launches
We are pleased to share that on 3rd December, 2010, Y-PEER Nepal was launched officially in the capital city Kathmandu, among the member organisations and stakeholders including INGOs, NGOs, media personnel and young people. Around 40 invitees were present in the program. On the occasion, Y-PEER national focal point in-charge made presentation on Y-PEER in the global and the national scenario. The presentation included the main objective of the network with the past and future activities.

Mr. Bijay Thapa, UNFPA Nepal Assistant representative gave his remark on the importance of the national network in the scenario of Nepal. Mr. Thapa highlighted importance of young people as a change maker and wished Y-PEER for further success. It was followed by remarks of Dr. Giridhari Sharma Paudel, Acting Director General, Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN). Dr. Paudel highlighted on the current trend of young people in their sexual practices and how peer education can contribute for promoting safe sexual practices. He provided some glimpse on the activities FPAN in the peer education since few decade.

There was a skit presented by Y-PEER Kathmandu group showcasing roles that peer educators can play in a community to reduce malpractices. The program was then followed by official launching of the Y-PEER Nepal network by singing Y-PEER Nepal song by the Y-PEER’s and guests.
